"Each page presents one principle, paired with a symbolic image made for meditation and focus. These are not doctrines to be memorized, but living symbols to be worked with, quietly and over time.",
"The book is arranged as a four-week cycle, one meditation for each day. Begin on any Monday with Week 1, Day 1 and follow the calendar on the next page. When the cycle ends, simply begin again; each return will show you something new.",
"In this shareable edition, Week 1, Day 1 is a day for reading these pages and preparing your space, and Week 4, Day 7 is a day of review, when you return to the meditation that spoke to you most.",
"A simple daily rhythm. Sit upright in a quiet place. Gaze at the image for a minute or two without forcing any interpretation. Read the Meaning slowly. Then follow the numbered practice, which takes between one and ten minutes. Close by repeating the focus phrase and carry it with you through the day.",
"The focus phrase printed in red on each page is a short affirmation. Say it once aloud or silently at the end of the practice, and return to it whenever the day becomes hurried.",
"The symbol described in italics at the foot of each page is there to help you recall the image with the eyes closed. Over time a brief inner picture of the symbol is often enough to bring back the whole meditation.",
"Keep a journal. A line or two after each practice is enough: what you noticed, what you felt, and any idea that came. Patterns appear across the weeks that are hard to see day by day.",
"Be gentle. If a practice feels like strain, shorten it. Steady, unhurried repetition is worth more than effort. These are contemplative exercises, offered for peace, clarity and goodwill."
